This Sunday, join Ben Darwish for his monthly jam session, “Progression” at the Someday Lounge. In his words, Progression is what every other jam session isn’t. ” Original compositions, odd time signatures, free form improvisation, and no rules.”
The house band this week will feature Ben on keys, Bill Athens on bass, and Brian Wright on drums.
The session is from 8 to 11 PM - if you plan on bringing a tune of your own to play, make sure to bring enough copies for everyone.
Join Portland’s new generation of jazz players at the Someday Lounge tonight (11/30) for the new monthly jam session hosted by Ben Darwish. The session provides an opportunity for musicians to get together and jam on original music rather than playing the same old standards in the same old way. Last time this session happened, we saw players like Rod Nightingale, Marc Hutchinson, Willie Matheis, Farnell Newton, Sam Howard, and many others.
The session starts at 8 PM - no cover.
Every Monday night at O’Conners Vault in Multnomah Village (7850 SW Capitol Hwy), Dave Fleschner and his trio host a jam session. The trio (with Charlie Doggett on drums and Dan Gildea on guitar) open up the evening with an hour of their music starting at 8 PM, and at 9, musicians are called up to join in. The show is free for musicians - other audience members pay a $5 cover.
