Once again, saxophonist Rob Scheps is rolling through town, and as usual, he has gathered together some of Portland’s best (think Stan Bock, Tim Gilson, Rich Cooper, etc) to play big band music at Disjecta. For this event, Scheps is bringing saxophonist/clarinetist/composer Frank Perowsky from New York as a featured composer and soloist. Expect to hear music from both Scheps and Perowsky as well as charts from the likes of Larry Young, Bill Frisell, and Duke Ellington.
The show takes place on Thursday, October 9th and 8 PM. Tickets are $10. Disjecta is located at 8371 N Interstate Avenue in Portland.

The often-traveling and sometimes-Portland-based saxophonist Rob Scheps will be in town soon, leading his big band at Disjecta on March 11th. Not the old Disjecta where you could often catch Scheps when he lived here, but their new location at 5340 N Interstate (Google Maps).
His band will play two shows, featuring New York vocalist Hilary Gardner. Rob’s band always has great musicians, often including players like Stan Bock, Rich Cooper, Ramsey Embick, etc.
Shows at 8 and 10:30 PM. $10 for one show or $15 for both.
