With the Safeway Waterfront Blues Festival ending today, Portland makes its way into the season of summertime jazz festivals.  First up is the Cathedral Park Jazz Festival, beginning on Friday, July 18th.

JazzPDX.org recommends checking out the whole festival (which is free, so why not?), but be sure to keep an eye out for these events in particular:

• July 19th at 6 PM - Randy Porter
• July 20th at 4 PM - Portland Jazz Orchestra
• July 20th at 6 PM - Bill Mays with Gary Hobbs and Dave Captein 

Portland-based saxophonist Patrick Lamb has launched his own ticket company, Tickets Oregon.  The company’s goal is to provide tickets for Oregon events while keeping fees reasonable, unlike larger companies like Ticketmaster.  They’ve already made partnerships with some great venues, including Jimmy Mak’s, Skamania Lodge, and especially the 2008 Waterfront Blues Festival.
